    Based on WHO collaborative Study (Aho et al., 1980), ERMANCIA study (Smadja et al., 2001), and PISCIS study (Gorelick, 1998), an age-wise comparative study was conducted on stroke incidence rates of developing countries like India, Nigeria, Sri Lanka, French West Indies, and Chile and the statistics generated showed a consistently increased rate of stroke incidence for all age groups in the last decade than the past three decades. ( Fig. 1 (Feigin, 2005),) Deaths due to stroke have increased from 35,000 to 605,000 in India in a span of ten years (2000–2010).
